FloodMapp delivers for Queensland

FloodMapp’s commitment to working towards a safer Queensland has been recognised at the 2022 Buy Queensland Supplier Awards.

The rapidly-growing Brisbane-based technology company won the Delivering for Queensland award for delivering outstanding outcomes for the community through innovation, disaster response and environmental initiatives.

FloodMapp CEO and Co-Founder Juliette Murphy said the awards acknowledged businesses that supply to the Queensland Government and contribute to a stronger, more resilient Queensland.

“The award was one of four different categories – it was a privilege to stand beside a group of talented, driven and like-minded people that are all working to impact our state for the better,” Juliette said.

“I’m very proud of what we’ve created and achieved at FloodMapp and it means a lot for the whole team to be recognised in this way.

“The floods we have seen this year have been absolutely heart breaking, causing $7.7 billion in economic damages across the state.

“More than 500,000 Queenslanders were impacted by the floods, across 23 local government areas.

“I’m honoured to represent such an experienced and talented team, including hydrologists, flood engineers, software developers, data scientists and emergency managers, who are not only experts in their field, but who all genuinely care about helping Queenslanders through flood events and into their recovery.

“At FloodMapp’s core, we strive to save lives and reduce the impacts of flooding.

“We want to see more resilient, prepared and prosperous communities as we adapt to climate change.

“We’re doing this through our world-first technology products (ForeCast, NowCast and PostCast) that provide new intelligence to key agencies and emergency managers across the state and beyond.

“Clients utilise FloodMapp’s products for situational awareness before, during and after a flood event, where the intelligence informs critical decisions for disaster response.

“The decisions made based on our fast and real-time information contribute to saving lives, preventing damage to infrastructure and assist in the distribution of resources to ultimately fast-track community recovery.

“We’re very proud to support our fellow Queenslanders by partnering with key home-grown agencies like Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, Queensland Reconstruction Authority and Energy Queensland for process improvement that is delivering better outcomes for Queensland.

“Our vision is to become the most trusted provider of flood forecast and real-time intelligence data across the world and this recognition helps us on that journey.”
